Centerville Canyon

In June we took a short backpacking trip up Centerville Canyon and camped at Mahogany Flat. We had a great view of the valley and the lights of Centerville at night.

The next day we hiked further up the canyon and found a huge swing that spanned the steep canyon bottom. We had to hike up to a rock on one side of the canyon and launch off of it then you were propelled up into the trees on the opposite side. It was a blast!!

On the way back down we stopped and cleaned up a campsite that had been left a total mess by some previous campers. We filled a 30 gallon garbage bag and the Scouts packed it all the way down the canyon along with their own backpacking gear. Nice Job!!!

The sides of the trails up the canyon were covered with poison ivy. We were lucky and came away unscathed.
