Butterfield Canyon

Our July campout was up Butterfield Canyon in the Oquirrh mountains West of SLC. We drove to the top of the canyon on Friday night where we had a great view looking down into the Kenecott Copper open pit copper mine.

We found a great campsite near the bottom of the canyon but the previous campers had left us a lot of cleanup work to make it useable. The troop did an awsome job getting the campsite back in good shape.

Ahh, the comforts of home... Cory on his giant air mattress.

The next day we visited the Bingham mine visitors center which also satisfied a Citizenship in the Nation requirement for the troop. We had a great time checking out the huge equipment that works the mine and learning about the history of the mine.
